Thirty freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were selected to join the Chick-fil-A Academy this year at NRHS. Dan Curran the Manager/Owner of the Chick-fil-A Harbor View is sponsoring the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy with Co-Advisors Candace Credle and S. Michele Duncan. Tara Worley the Assistant Principal “felt the two Marketing Teachers would be able to relate to the Academy and work with Chick-fil-A.” Mrs. Duncan also works with our School Business Partner Program and Chick-fil-A also participates in that program as well…we appreciate everything they do for our school and young people.”

The Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program that provides students the platform they need to transform their school and impact their community. This year, more than 27,000 students in over 40 states will develop their leadership skills and make an impact through Action.

Over the course of the school year, the students leadership journey will go through monthly learning labs which is designed to inspire the students. Students will be empowered to put the leadership principles they are learning into practice by executing three service projects.

The first activity the students completed at the Kick-Off Event was to send a Kit to the Soldiers which consisted of hand sanitizer, screen Cleaner, emery board, mints, and tissues. They also wrote a postcard thanking them for their Service.

Justin Martinez was really pleased that he was accepted in the program. He is looking forward to learning about leadership and fine tuning his skills. He also wants to lean about the operation of a business and how Chick-fil-A operates. He has been a customer at the HarborView location since it has opened and enjoys going there to eat and the friendly atmosphere.
